Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE)
Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) is an indispensable component in the electric vehicle charging process. With the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and growing market demand, safety and performance requirements for EVSE have also increased. To safeguard consumer rights and maintain market order, the Chinese government has implemented compulsory product certification management for EVSE. According to the *State Administration for Market Regulation Announcement on Implementing Compulsory Product Certification for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment* (No. 50, 2024), starting from March 1, 2025, designated certification bodies will begin accepting applications for CCC certification of EVSE. This means that from that date onward, all manufacturers, distributors, and importers of EVSE must submit applications to certification bodies to ensure their products comply with national safety standards.
Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) is an indispensable and critical component in the electric vehicle charging process. With the proliferation of electric vehicles and growing market demand, the safety and performance requirements for EVSE have also increased. To protect consumer rights and market order, the Chinese government has implemented compulsory product certification management for EVSE.
According to the State Administration for Market Regulation Announcement on Implementing Compulsory Product Certification Management for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (Announcement No. 50, 2024), starting from March 1, 2025, designated certification bodies will begin accepting applications for CCC certification of EVSE. This means that from that date onward, all manufacturers, sellers, and importers of EVSE must submit applications to certification bodies to ensure their products comply with nationally mandated safety standards.
Furthermore, from August 1, 2026, all EVSE must undergo CCC certification and bear the CCC mark before leaving the factory, being sold, imported, or used in other business activities. This measure aims to ensure that all EVSE circulating in the market have undergone rigorous safety and performance testing, thereby safeguarding consumer safety and rights.
The testing standards for EVSE primarily reference two national standards: GB 39752-2024 "Safety Requirements for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment" and GB 44263-2024 "Safety Requirements for Conductive Charging Systems of Electric Vehicles". These standards cover various aspects such as the design, manufacturing, and inspection of the supply equipment, providing comprehensive technical support for product quality.
In the market, EVSE is mainly categorized into AC Supply Equipment (Code 2501) and DC Supply Equipment (Code 2502). Different types of supply equipment are suited for different charging needs and usage scenarios; therefore, selection should be based on actual requirements.
Regarding certification models, there are two options: Model 1 and Model 2. Model 1 includes type testing, initial factory inspection, and post-certification surveillance, applicable to most mass-produced EVSE. Model 2 applies to small-volume, single-batch EVSE, specifically where the quantity in the same batch does not exceed 5 units/sets, a sales contract has been signed, and the sales destination, customer, and product model are confirmed. In such cases, certification can be conducted using the model of type testing plus 100% inspection.
The certification process typically involves the following steps: First, applying within the certification body's system. Next, the certification body accepts the application and conducts sample testing and initial factory review. Finally, the certification body evaluates and approves the certification result. After obtaining certification, ongoing surveillance is required to ensure the product's continued compliance.
To assist enterprises in successfully obtaining certification, our service team offers a range of advantageous services. We provide dedicated one-on-one guidance throughout the preparation of samples and documentation. If testing fails, we offer rectification suggestions and solutions. Additionally, we provide guidance and coaching for factory audits to ensure your production facilities and processes meet the relevant requirements.
With the vigorous development of the electric vehicle market, attention to the quality and safety of EVSE is increasingly paramount. Implementing CCC certification not only enhances the safety performance of products but also promotes the healthy development of the industry. For both enterprises and consumers, understanding this information is crucial for selecting appropriate products and services.
